School visit to the Library of St John's College, Cambridge, based around its copy of the 1638 edition of Hocus Pocus Junior. This book, discovered by the Old Library Cataloguing Project, provided the inspiration for a series of visits arranged for a local primary school as part of the Library's outreach and access initiative. Activities included a tour of the College, an exhibition in the Old Library, and a recreation of some of the tricks in the book by a local magician. The children were encouraged to respond to all of this in books which they had designed and constructed previously during a classroom visit by a member of Library staff. Other collaborations with schools have covered topics such as sacred texts and Victorian explorers.
