Mission
UC&R aims to provide a focus and a forum for the professional concerns and interests of everyone working in national, research or academic libraries, linking these with current and emerging issues and developments, and the overall direction of CILIP's corporate plan.
The group wishes to ensure the active participation of all its members. It seeks their involvement in a lively and enjoyable network that enhances their personal and professional development, and facilitates the provision of high quality services.
Aims and Objectives
UC&R through its national committee, its regional sections and especially its membership as a whole will:
• ensure opportunities for individual personal and professional development through involvement in the group's activities as a whole as well as participation in its formal structures
• engage proactively with national issues and debates, contributing to the formulation of CILIP initiatives and responses, and ensuring appropriate linkages, participation and communication within CILIP
• encourage and facilitate the exchange of information and experience within the group and with other organisations
• support, develop and publicise innovative services, best practice and staff development, through bursaries, awards and other initiatives
• develop and sustain a strong regional structure which optimises members' active participation in the group and engagement with regional agenda
• develop and sustain international links to widen awareness of overseas developments and facilitate visits, exchanges etc.

Since the inauguration of the new look UC&R Group website, please note that it has a new URL: http://www.cilip.org.uk/ucr
This is the shortcut address, and replaces the old address. If you use it regularly on printed or e-documents that go out in your region, do replace the old address with this one. It will help to show members and prospective members the new site and to advertise the Group.
Group Acronym
In addition, please note that the correct acronym for the Group is UC&R and not UCR or UCRG etc. Make those changes now for a clear, branded look on all your printed or e-documents!
