Charity - Book Aid International
University, College and Research Group have nominated Book Aid International as its chosen charity. The group have chosen this charity because of its vision for promoting opportunities for learning and development by
providing access to books and information resources.
BookAid International
http://www.bookaid.org
is an international charity supporting and promoting literacy in developing countries. The aim of the charity is to help disadvantaged people “realise their potential” by creating reading and learning opportunities and therefore helping to “eradicate poverty”. Book Aid International currently works in 12 sub-Saharan African countries including Sudan, Ugandan and Kenya as well as having projects in Palestine and Sri Lanka.
For every £10 that is raised, Book Aid International sends 8 books to a library or other partner. Book Aid International is involved in sending a variety of books including children’s books; fiction and vocational, as well as teacher
training and specialist health care and medial titles.
