Introduction
Welcome to the home page of the UC&R London Section.

The UC&R Group is concerned with the interests of librarians in national, research, university and other higher education libraries. The Group organises meetings, including an annual study conference, which, in alternate years, is held as part of Umbrella. In recent years the Group has established links with cognate bodies internationally.

Relay, the Group's newsletter, reports on developments and is a vehicle for papers of current interest to members.

Your local branch of UC&R aims to bring together librarians in London to discuss issues of professional interest in seminars, study days, visits and social events. Details of events are listed below, along with details of previous events and ways in which you can become involved in the running of the section. Events

Annual General Meeting and talk

Date - Wednesday 28th January 2009

Time - 6.00 - 8.00 p.m.

Venue: The Maplethorpe Lecture Theatre, School of Pharmacy, University of London - for details of how to get to the School, please go to the following URL: http://www.pharmacy.ac.uk/findus.html. On arrival, please report to Reception and I will be there to greet you.

Refreshments will be provided.

The event will start with the AGM followed by two speakers:

Liz Jolly, Chair of the University, College and Research Group of CILIP, and Director of Library and Information Services, University of Teesside

and

Nick Bevan, Chair of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries, and Director of Library Services, Brunel University.

Both Liz and Nick will consider the current challenges and opportunities facing the UC&R Group and the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries. Their talks will be followed by a panel discussion.

A maximum of 40 people can attend this visit, so it will be a case of first come, first served.

Visit to University College London Library - Wednesday 4th February 2009 2.00 - 4.00 p.m.

The visit will include a tour of Main Library, Science Library and Sconul award winning SSEES Library, and hopefully some refreshments.

A maximum of 15 people can attend this visit, so it will be a case of first come, first served.
