Committee member profiles

Clare Langman - Chair and Co-events Secretary
Clare joined the group when it was relaunched in 2005. She was Events Secretary until she took over as Chair in September 2006. She is currently an Information Specialist at Aston University with responsibility for Engineering and Pharmacy/Biology. Her areas of professional interest lie in teaching and learning, particularly in the areas of Information Literacy and Teaching Information Skills.

Judith Keene - Co-events Secretary
Judith is currently Deputy Director of Information and Learning Services (a converged service) at the University of Worcester. Professionally, Judith is particularly interested in finding innovative ways to demonstrate the value and impact of services and finds the advice network and awareness of the kinds of issues and developments at a range of institutions accessed through UC&R and CILIP incredibly valuable for both personal and service development.

Vicky Wallace - Minutes Secretary
Vicky is a Subject Advisor in the Life and Health Sciences team at The University of Birmingham, supporting the Schools of Chemistry, Health Sciences, Psychology and Sport and Exercise Sciences. Within West Midlands UC&R, Vicky has been Minutes Secretary since March 2005. Vicky’s professional interests include the role of Information Services in supporting academic researchers, and she is a member of the both the CURL Research Support Taskforce and the CURL/SCONUL e-Research Taskforce.

Ross Connell - Web Secretary
Ross presently provides academic support at the University of Warwick as part of Social Sciences subject team, with specific responsibility for Politics and International Studies. Within West Midlands UC&R, he is responsible for Internet publicity and communications, including maintenance of the section's website, a role he has performed since June 2006. Ross' professional interests include techniques and technologies for teaching and learning, and the legal regulation of information provision.

Alison Huggan - Committee Member
Alison is the Education Faculty Librarian at Birmingham City University. As a committee member of UC&R West Midlands Alison is able to maintain her professional interests which include both Staff Development and Learning and Teaching by contributing to the planning of regional training and development events.
