YLG Conference 2005 - September 16-18th
Pushing the Boundaries: Cross Cultural and Cross Sectoral Working
As promised in the 2005 Spring issue of Youth Libraries Review we have published key papers from this year’s YLG Conference.
A majority of the papers were delivered as PowerPoint presentations, however both Breaking Down Boundaries with Fulfilling their Potential by Trish Botten (Solihull Libraries) and Working Together to Serve Children Better by Stephanie Brivio (Sure Start/CYPU Regional Team Manager, GOSE) have notes* to accompany the slides. And I have also included a copy of the Fulfilling their Potential Improvement Model referred to in Trisha’s Presentation, courtesy of Ciara Eastell, Senior Advise, The Reading Agency. Unfortunately, the presentation E-citizenship: Children and Libraries by David Potts (Senior Network Adviser. The Museums, Libraries & Archives Council) does not have notes, but I hope the slides will be of use to those who attended his talk. (*In order to access the notes that accompany the slides, please view on “Normal View”.)
I am very grateful to John Vincent (Networker for “The Network – tackling social exclusion”) for very kindly writing up the key points of his excellent Workshop on Access, Exclusion and Community Cohesion.
The Conference ended with a wonderful speech by Children’s Laureate, Jacqueline Wilson sharing her thoughts on Breaking Readership Boundaries, which I am delighted to have been given permission to reproduce it here.
I hope that you will find these papers both interesting and useful.
