About ALAG


Aims and objectives:

  • To promote the use of library and leisure services in the Asian communities.
  • To raise awareness of the needs and maintain service provision to Asian communities.
  • To liaise with other librarians, individuals, groups and library authorities with similar aims to promote racial equality in the library field.
  • To promote Asian languages, history, culture and heritage through library and information services.
  • To provide a forum for Asian librarians and workers from similar fields.

 

Membership:

Membership is open to Asian librarians, advisers with borough wide responsibility and ex-librarians on payment of annual subscription subject to the approval of ALAG. Members will have voting rights.

Meetings:

ALAG members meet every 8 weeks.
Annual General Meeting is held once a year and within 14 months of the previous AGM.
