The community information format was the only US MARC format not be absorbed into MARC 21 Bibliographic, and has remained out in the cold. As we progress to wider resource integration and access this neglected format can provide the hub to link bibliographic resources with resources in the community. Your catalogue may be fantastic at identifying all the resources you have on pottery, this format will allow you to identify pottery collection in your area, pottery classes and working potters, thus giving far wider range of possibilities to your community.
Benefits from attending
The course allows participant to gain an understanding of the structure and capabilities of the format and also to undertake examples and review the extent to which the format can support their work.
Who should attend?
Anyone who wishes to consider using the format to provide access to non-bibliographic resources, is exploring possibilities for upgrading their system or is interested in expanding their knowledge of the MARC 21 format.
Special notes:
participants will need to have an understanding of MARC 21 format and terminology.
