Learn more about copyright and licensing as it applies to the academic library at this half-day course. The session will cover the main issues including copyright exceptions, library privilege, copyright declaration forms, posting content to a virtual learning environment and the range of licences available for the FE and HE sectors.

Benefits of attending
Participants will gain a good understanding of the main copyright concerns for those working in the academic sector and get tips and guidance for staying within the law.

The course will bring delegates up to date with recent developments – such as the Gowers recommendations on distance learning, interactive whiteboards, format shifting, orphan works, and the penalties for copyright infringement.

Who should attend?
Those providing library and information services for further and higher education institutions and who need to be aware of how to comply with copyright law. A useful refresher for people wanting to catch up on recent and forthcoming changes to the law.

Special notes: aimed at those who already have a basic understanding of current copyright law.
