Google™ is without doubt the information professional’s general purpose search engine of choice but many of us perform searches simply by entering subject terms. This can often bring back good results but not always, because we are not using Google™ in the most effective way.

This one-day course will teach you how to bring the most relevant hits to the top of the search list and even get the answers to quick reference enquiries without having to click through to other sites.

By the end of the event participants will have:
  • excellent knowledge of basic Google™ and have gone beyond simple subject terms searching
  • the ability to use ‘Advanced Search’ with confidence and, indeed, do things that ‘Advanced Search’ cannot do  knowledge of non-Google tools that help with a Google search

Who should attend?
Anyone who needs quality time with Google™ that cannot be achieved at the enquiry desk. Those new to the Internet who want to learn fast but thoroughly.

This course will be of relevance to library and information staff in all types of library from public to academic, business to specialist.
