The flood of information onto the Internet is increasing at a dramatic rate, making it more difficult to keep up-to-date with new information and also more problematic getting information to users.
This course considers how blogs and RSS feeds can make information provision more effective and also save time by managing this increased information flow. It is aimed at both the information professional who needs to keep up with developments and also those who are required to disseminate information.
Benefits of attending
By the end of course participants will have:
- started to use blogs
- been introduced to RSS feeds
- created their own blogs and will be using RSS feeds themselves
- will have created their own start page and will have added RSS feeds (from weblogs, newsfeeds and search engines) to it
Who should attend?
Those who have taken on responsibility for current awareness or selective dissemination services and/or those who need to promote their services.
Special notes: participants must have access to a web based email account during this course if they are unable to access their usual work/home email accounts.
