Those who are running branch libraries / departments, who are supervising staff and have financial and stock selection responsibilities, as well as facilities management and those dealing with more complex enquiries.
Special notes: this course is not suitable for delegates who have attended Essential Skills for Library and Information Staff.

· Training other staff to handle enquiries
· Monitoring and evaluating the enquiry function
- Understanding classification and controlled language indexing
Understanding cataloguing and library databases
Day 2
- Managing a branch or department (premises)
- Acquisitions, stock selection and development Essentials of customer care
- Managing library and administrative staff: policies, systems and practice
- Financial management in a library context
