"I can definitely structure the way I carry out research more effectively"

3 March 2008, London
8 July 2008, London
19 November 2008, Birmingham

“Why do I need an information professional when I’ve got the web?”

With more and more information being delivered direct to end-users’ desktops, library and information staff need to go the extra mile if they are to safeguard and develop their enquiry services. By presenting answers that are both well expressed and visually attractive, information professionals can add value to their services.

Benefits of attending
Participants will learn how to repackage enquiry answers so that they highlight the key information the enquirer needs, are visually interesting and act as a promotional tool for the service.

By the end of the course participants will have:
  • learned how to assess source documents rapidly and extract the best information from them
  • discovered techniques for laying out written enquiry answers effectively
  • examined the use of graphs, charts, illustrations and drawing tools to add value to their branded enquiry answers.

Who should attend?
Anyone responsible for providing extended answers to enquiries, presenting the results of desk research or creating reports.

Special notes: participants are encouraged to bring their own documents to use for practical exercises although source materials will be provided.
