This practical two-day course is for those with some experience of management who want to develop their skills further. The content is applied to library and information work, with emphasis on managing the work of others.

Who should attend?
Participants should have at least four years or equivalent of post-qualification experience and be in a job which includes the management of other people’s work. Ideally, participants will have already participated in Introduction to Management Skills or a similar programme.

  • Case study 
  • Groups and teams - what does a good team do?
  • Team exercises

Day 2 
  • Skills for managing yourself – motivation
  • Skills for managing others – dealing with conflict
  • Personal plans for development
