Welsh Librarian of the Year Award winner 2017 announced

The Welsh Librarian of the Year Award of 2017 has been awarded to Wendy Foster, Knowledge Services Manager at Glangwili Library.
This year’s winner was announced by Barbara Pacut from award sponsors SirsiDynix. Wendy was unable to make the award ceremony but she gratefully received the news on the night from the audience tweeting the results.
Barbara Pacut said at the inaugural WLYA ceremony in 2013 that "The librarian plays a key role in the function of libraries in our communities, a fact that can be overlooked in discussions and debates around buildings and cultural resources. It is the librarian who shapes the character of a library, and who drives for its success"
This still remains true today. Llongyfarchiadau/congratulations Wendy Foster.
Librarian at Royal Gwent Hospital Katie Osborne in her testimonial for Wendy stated:
“In 2012 Wendy was elected as Chair of the All Wales Health Information and Libraries Extension Service (AWHILES) which is a partnership of NHS Wales and Cardiff University hospital based libraries. Wendy’s excellent organisational skills, enthusiasm and dedication to the AWHILES business meetings make them highly successful and dynamic…Wendy is an active member of the AWHILES community and provides a huge contribution to our policies, reports and new or ongoing projects. (She) is a core member and an asset as she motivates all the members, particularly the new and less experienced members of the library profession.”
