CLSIG & PATMG are planning an evening Professional Development seminar followed by a networking opportunity and refreshments.  The talk will cover copyright exceptions, the role licensing can play and the outline for a framework which can be applied to any copyright problem.  Fully booked - waiting list only

Information professionals working in the corporate sector face a number of copyright challenges and conundrums.

This talk will look at :

  • whether there are any copyright exceptions which cover copying for a commercial purpose
  • the role that licensing can play in making it possible for people to be able to copy material, even where it is for a commercial purpose

Our speaker, Paul Pedley, will also outline a framework which can be applied to any copyright problem.

The framework consists of a number of steps to work through in order to work out the answer to the problem under consideration.

Finally, Paul will look at the sorts of changes to copyright law that librarians need in order for them to be able to do their jobs more effectively; and how you can help by providing evidence to show the practical difficulties which you are confronted with because of the way in which copyright law currently works.

There will be ample opportunity for questions after the talk.
