    Public libraries across the UK can lend music CDs, tapes and records from the date they are made available for sale under a six-month trial period agreed between recording industry trade body the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and CILIP.

    The agreement took effect from 1 November 2006, was renewed in 2010 and remains in force.
