Join CILIP Library and Information History Group for a free tour of Leeds Central Library to view some of their special collections items.

The Central Library is a Grade II* listed building and was constructed between 1878 and 1884. The building was opened on 17 April 1884 by the Mayor, Alderman Edwin Woodhouse. The library is home to several significant collections of antiquarian and special-interest materials including the Gott bequest, a collection of around 600 early English gardening books] and periodicals including works published in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

The walk’s meeting point will be at the entrance lobby of Leeds Central Library at 14:00 and the tour will finish approximately 60 minutes later. This event is open to all but pre-booking is essential as space is limited.

The tour will be followed by a LIHG Annual General Meeting open to CILIP LIHG members only.
