Leading in academic libraries: One business librarian's perspective

In this Leaders Network webinar Hal will present on his experiences that led to becoming the Bodleian Business Librarian. He will share what skills he acquired, challenges faced, and try to provide some tips for aspiring leaders. He’ll share a little about differences between the US/Indiana and the UK/Oxford.


Hal Kirkwood


Hal Kirkwood is the Bodleian Business Librarian in the Sainsbury Library in the Said Business School at the University of Oxford since April of 2018. Prior to this he was a Business Information Specialist in the Parrish Library of Management & Economics in the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University for 20+ years. Hal holds a B.A. in History & Political Science from Indiana University and a Masters in Library & Information Science from the University of South Carolina. He is an inductee to the Purdue Univ. Book of Great Teachers. Hal has presented at numerous national & international conferences, as well as authored over a dozen articles in a variety of publications. He is currently the President of the Special Libraries Association for 2019..
