Beyond the Horizon: CILIP North East conference 2019

Monday 20th May 2019, 12:30-17:00

The conference will seek to inspire our audience, share knowledge, raise debate and provide networking opportunities. It will cover a broad range of issues from across the library, information and knowledge professions. The conference will be open to members of the profession and all who are interested in our profession. The conference will be free for CILIP members. There will be a charge of £70 (plus VAT) for non-members.

The schedule for the day is:

12:30-13:15       Registration, lunch and networking

13:15-13:35       Introduction and David Stewart, CILIP President – Keynote talk

13:35- 13:55      Short Paper One “National Bibliographic Knowledgebase (NBK) – Community Support and Guidance” by Lee Blyth, Northumbria University Library

14:00-14:20       Short Paper Two “How non-Māori librarians go about engaging with or making sense of Māori cultural knowledge in Aotearoa New Zealand” by Kathryn Oxborrow, PhD Researcher

Health Libraries North are hosting their annual study day in the morning before our conference and CILIP members are welcome to attend. 

The theme is “Making our Libraries Accessible to all” and the day will feature ways of improving the support we can offer to our users with a range of additional needs including dyslexia, deaf awareness and issues with health literacy.

The morning is as follows, with guest speakers Lisa Baker and Margaret Robertson

•           Key session: Health literacy awareness

•           Key session: Deaf awareness
