Its Wikipedia article says that it is “a rare surviving example of an early 17th-century parish library, preserved in situ in the decorated cupboards designed for it in 1620 in the parish church of St Mary the Virgin... A large portion of the library still exists and, with the contemporary catalogue, provides insight into scholarship and book collecting in the 17th century.”

There is more information about the library here: http://langleymarish.com/stmary/kedermister-library/

The tour of the library will be at 11am on Thursday 5 September. Kedermister Library asks for a voluntary donation of £5 per visitor.

Please note that the library is accessed via nine steps without a handrail and there are then further steps into the pew and down into the library. Ample parking is available in the pub opposite the church (the Red Lion) and there are toilet facilities within the church.

Please contact Sarah Mann (sarah.mann@mac.com) to book onto the tour. Booking will close the week before the tour.

We very much hope to see you there!
