The benefits of accessibility for libraries in the digital world

Libraries and information services sit at the heart of our communities. Every day, people of all ages visit libraries and information services for work, reading, learning, communicating with friends and family, conducting research, job hunting or simply to socialise. But some users cannot fully access their library and information service's offerings. Some have disabilities, some speak English as a Second Language and others are unaware of what a library and information service can provide, or don’t have the skills they need to use the digital technology on offer.

This webinar will examine the rationale for library and information services to address accessibility. It will include an explanation of the tangible and intangible benefits, and the risks of not addressing accessibility adequately. It will outline the current landscape and explain how embracing accessibility can:

  • Minimise legal risk
  • Empower users
  • Help bridge the digital divide
  • Help libraries better meet their strategic objectives
