K&IM webinar series (replacement for postponed professionals day)

The K&IM SIG are pleased to announce that their Professionals Day will now be running as a series of online webinars in May and June. This series of webinars replaces the original one day event scheduled in March (which had to be postponed due to Covid-19). The webinars will be in two tranches of three and those booked on the Professionals Day will be automatically transferred to this series so you do not need to rebook. Those on the KM Chartership are entitled to a discounted ticket, please contact emmalouiseholmes@hotmail.com before registering.

The speakers and webinars in this first series are detailed below.

Webinar 1: Striding down the pathway to corporate legitimacy by Paul Corney

13 May 2020 at 12 noon

In this session Paul will look at the challenge Knowledge Managers face gaining corporate legitimacy. He will examine the wide range of activities undertaken by "Knowledge Managers" and highlight the core skills he believes essential for success in a KM role.

Webinar 2: The KM IM confusion: does it matter by Judy Payne

20 May 2020 at 12 noon

Confusion has long existed between KM and IM. To the uninitiated, the difference between the two is unclear – and many use terms such as data, information, content and knowledge interchangeably. Those in the know do this sometimes, too. Is this because they don’t understand the differences? Or do they think the differences aren’t important? Why does the confusion exist, anyway? And does it matter? If it does matter, what can we do about it? In this interactive session, we will explore these questions through anecdotes and by reviewing the development of KM and IM. Judy will invite you to share and reflect on your own experiences, so there will be opportunities to join in if you want to.

Webinar 3: Supporting virtual communities of practice through the internal social media platform: case study by Arthur Robbins

27 May 2020 at 12 noon

The above webinars will be facilitated by Dion Lindsay.

Details of the online webinars running in June will be available soon.
