09.30 Young People’s Mental Health – Dealing with Stress and Anxiety and 

Resources to Support This.: Barbara Band, School Library Consultant

This time of uncertainty will impact on the mental health and wellbeing of young people, in particular on their stress and anxiety levels. This session looks at the causes of stress and the impact it has; physically, emotionally and mentally. It considers ways to help young people cope with stress including relevant resources to support them.

10.15 True Grit and Bite Sized Brilliance – Author Andy Cope will be giving tips for helping children bounce back and cope when they return to school 

Andy’s books are frequently on the bestseller list and he is renowned for his Art of Being Brilliant and Happiness training course. In this session Andy will give you tips on helping children bounce back and build resilience on their return to school and will highlight some of his Bite Sized Brilliance training developed to support children and staff in schools

11.00 'Spark up the Interest – Re-establishing your library with students and staff, post Covid'?  Bev Humphrey, Literacy & Technology Consultant

Some of you may have been very busy with online media whilst on lockdown but others may have been furloughed, making it difficult to maintain visibility with your school community. This session will give you ideas of how you can rebuild/extend the library's profile with both staff and students using both digital and non-digital ideas. 

11.30 Re-engaging Students with Reading – Lucas Maxwell, Librarian, Glenthorne High School

In this session, Lucas will be focusing on idea that school librarians can use to get young people enthused about and engaged in reading for pleasure once they return to school.

12.00 Making Use of the SLG Book Discussion Packs – Elizabeth Bentley, Sue Bussey, Lucy Chambers, Annie Everall,  SLG National Committee

You may not be aware that SLG produce a range of very useful book group discussion guides on a variety of topics. This session will include short talks from some of those who have contributed discussion sheets about how they chose the books, how they came up with questions and giving practical suggestions of how you can use them in your library or classroom. 

12.30 School Librarians Rock! – Philip Ardagh, SLG Lifetime Ambassador  

Philip will be reminding you all of just how brilliant school librarians are in his usual inimitable and humorous way
