CILIP response to Dominic Cummings concerns

Update: CILIP has since issued a full a apology for this article published in Information Professional magazine

We acknowledge the online discussion about our recent Information Professional article concerning a 2014 blog by Dominic Cummings on Government and Departmental libraries.

CILIP believes that it is our role to report on all developments in the sector, to raise awareness and provide a platform for discussion and debate.

In this instance, we considered the article, its tone and approach very critically and carefully prior to publication. Nothing in the article - including the fact of its publication - endorses Cummings or his views, or the Government's policy on libraries.

We encourage everyone to read the article for themselves and to consider the issues it raises for the role of libraries, information and knowledge management in Government.
