Cataloguing rare books using Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books)

Tue, 16th May 2017 - 10:00am

CILIP Rare Books and Special Collections Group (RBSCG) is pleased to be offering training on cataloguing rare books using DCRM(B) – Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books).

Date: Tuesday 16 May

Time: 10am – 4.30pm

Venue: The Wellcome Library, 215 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE

Aimed at those who are considering adopting – or have recently adopted – DCRM(B), as well as anyone who would like to learn more about the process of cataloguing rare books, the training will include an introduction to bibliographic format and comprehensive guidance on the content and implementation of DCRM(B). The training is intended for those with some experience of cataloguing, but not necessarily of rare books; however, some knowledge of AACR2 is essential.

The workshop will be led by Iris O’Brien (Early Printed Collections Cataloguing and Processing Manager at the British Library), and Hugh Cahill (Senior Librarian at Lambeth Palace Library).

Tea and coffee will be provided but attendees will need to make their own arrangements for lunch.

This training is offered at a cost of £55 (inc. VAT) for members of CILIP and £65 (inc. VAT) for non-members. Numbers for the course are limited. To book your place please contact Tim Pye (tim.pye@nationaltrust.org.uk), quoting your CILIP membership number (if applicable) and providing an invoicing address
