Multimedia Information and Technology Group

The MmIT group aims to unite CILIP members engaged, in, or interested in, multimedia information and technology developments in library and information science. The group is concerned with the organisation, delivery and exploration of information through modern media including graphic forms, video and web based application.

Our quarterly publication, Multimedia Information and Technology journal, is a central feature of our activities and is supported by our newsblog.

We regularly organise conferences and our most recent, in September 2014, was a two-day residential event with the theme “Sound & Vision in Librarianship - Going Beyond Words and Pictures”.

Key speakers included Graham McElearney on “iTunes U – Making Learning Global”, Richard Ranft of the British Library on “Finding Sounds in the British Library” and Liz McGettigan on “The Use of Augmented Reality to Drive Growth and Innovative Customer Experience”.
