Welcome to the CILIP community. Whatever your location or field of interest the CILIP community offers great opportunities for you to expand your knowledge and skills and develop your career. You can connect with fellow members, and through the
Devolved Nations, Regional Member Networks, Special Interest Groups and Diversity Networks.
Whether you live or work in Scotland, Wales, Ireland or England, you’ll find a CILIP community on hand to assist you. Each nation has a unique package of support for local members spanning access to events, training, networking and
CPD opportunities. They also produce regular newsletters, so please sign up to receive them.
In England, you have the option of joining a Regional Member Network - an invaluable source of information, advice and learning support. Each network has its own programme of events available to members nearer to your home or place of work. Don’t forget to sign up to receive their newsletter.
Our Special Interest Groups (SIG) are there to help connect with like-minded people who are passionate about the same areas of professional interest. They will help you unlock your career potential and gain the knowledge you need to excel. You can join as many groups as you like. Don’t forget to sign up to receive the SIG newsletters.
CILIP's Diversity Networks provide support and a platform for library, knowledge and information workers with lived experience, and their allies. Each group has a unique package of support for members spanning access to events, training
and networking. They also produce regular newsletters, so please sign up to receive them.
Joining groups
If you are a member, and want to join a group, go to the Groups Page (you need to be logged in to your member profile). There you will find a list of groups that you are part of and
groups you can join in the Available Groups column on the left hand side.
Select Join Group for the group(s) you want to join. It’s important to remember that you will need to opt in to receive each group’s email communications.
You can either use the Update your marketing preferences option in the fortnightly member email, which will automatically populate with your name and details of those groups you are already subscribed to.
Or you can go to the Member Email Preference Centre, add your email address and name and select all the email newsletters you want to receive including those you already receive.
Your involvement powers our community
The CILIP community is powered by volunteers. Each groups success is built on the dedication and passion of people like you. If you’d like to be more involved in their work you can join one of the committees and play a part in how they are
managed. Each group operates under the CILIP umbrella but is largely independent. You can find roles member networks are looking for but also feel free to contact the committees to ask how you can support their work.
