A new series of webinars especially for you in the South West!

Posted By Helene A. Russell, 01 July 2020
Great news! We've nearly finished organising the latest series of "free and friendly" lunchtime webinars for our members in the South West, with a theme of career and learning development. We start the series with Virginia Power from UWE talking about reflective writing on 15th July, then we'll have a re-run of our most popular webinar so far, Smart Steps to Overcome Procrastination with Fenella Hemus at the end of July. Virginia will be back to talk about career development on 2nd September and lastly Katherine Thomas of Free Range Lawyers (who previously spoke at the beginning of the pandemic about home working) will be back to talk about returning to work and adjusting to teams of mixed home and office workers, on 22nd September. All events are free and can be booked via my Eventbrite account. Virginia's events are already available and Fenella's and Katherine's will follow soon. You might want to follow my profile in order to get early notification of these and other interesting events.

Virtual open day at UWE for SW Information Professionals

Posted By Helene A. Russell, 16 June 2020

UWE, one of our local Universities which offers CILIP-accredited professional courses, is having a virtual open day and you are invited!
Virginia Power, Senior Lecturer in Information Science, invites you to chat with her on Wednesday 17th June 2020 at 14.00 and get all your questions answered.

More details below.

We live in the age of information and recent events have shown us that this is continually increasing. As digital technology continues to develop, so too does our ability to collect, manage, store and disseminate vast amounts of information. Organisations of all sizes, in all industries, are finding new and more efficient ways to use this information to build business strategies, whilst considering the ethical obligations that come with handling vast amounts of personal information about people around the world. As our global digital infrastructure grows, the fields of library, information and knowledge management are rapidly developing alongside it.

The demand for appropriately qualified library, information and knowledge management professionals has never been more urgent than now – could YOU be one of them?!

UWE are offering you the opportunity to study for a full- or part-time MSc. in Information Management Previous students have been recruited to roles within academic, school and public libraries, law firms, data analytics roles and the Civil Service to name just a few!

Modules can also be studied as CPD (continuing professional development) short courses if preferred; our modules continue to attract a wide range of students from the sector, and from business.

As Programme Leader I am hosting an online virtual chat on Wednesday 17th June starting at 14.00 (BST) and will be very happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding modes of study and modules; I would be delighted if you would like to join me!

Please register at: UWE Postgraduate and Professional Virtual Open Day

If this date and time is inconvenient for you, please contact me direct and we can make alternative arrangements.

With best wishes
