Overall aims and objectives for the Academic and Research Libraries Group (ARLG).
Through its national committee, its regional divisions and especially its membership as a whole, ARLG has the following aims and objectives:
Ensure opportunities for individual, personal and professional development through involvement in the group's activities as a whole as well as participation in its formal structures.
Engage proactively with national issues and debates, contributing to the formulation of CILIP initiatives and responses, and ensuring appropriate linkages, participation and communication with CILIP.
Encourage and facilitiate the exchange of information and experience within the group and with other organisations.
Support, develop and publicise innovative services, best practice and staff development, through bursaries, awards and other initiatives.
Develop and sustain a strong regional structure which optimises members' active participation in the group and engagement with regional agenda.
Develop and sustain international links to widen awareness of overseas developments and facilitate visits, exchanges etc.
