North-East & Yorkshire

A regional sub-committee supporting members living in County Durham, Northumberland, Teesside, Tyne and Wear, Yorkshire and Humberside.

We provide a focus for continuing professional development for further education, higher education and research library staff in the North-East and Yorkshire regions.

We're always on the look out for new members across our wide geographical spread - if you'd like to be involved, get in touch.

Aims

  • Anticipate and respond to emerging issues within the library and information environment.
  • Provide continuing opportunities for the sharing of experience, best practice and debate between library and information staff in the region.
  • Work in close collaboration with national and local groups.
  • Promote the Academic and Research Libraries Group (ARLG) within the region and encourage participation and new membership.

Objectives

We will seek to achieve our aims via:

  • An annual programme of development events, including meetings, workshops, exchange visits and social events.
  • Maintenance and development of communication links with regional members.
  • Development of promotional materials.
  • Active liaison with CILIP and the ARLG national committee.
