Current Bursary Opportunities
CILIP Conference 2024 at The Hilton Birmingham Metropole from 10-11 July.
ARLG committee is delighted to announce that we are sponsoring one bursary place for the CILIP Conference 2024 at The Hilton Birmingham Metropole from 10-11 July.

Decisions as to the successful candidate will be made by Friday 31st May.
This bursary place is intended for a CILIP member who fulfils at least one of the following criteria:
* studying (full or part time)
* new to the profession (in last 5 years)
* working towards a professional registration qualification (Certification, Chartership or Fellowship)
* without the financial means to cover the event
The bursary will provide an opportunity to attend the conference and benefit from professional development and networking opportunities.
* Option 1 - 1 day ticket 10th July at £340 + VAT
* Option 2 - 1 day ticket 11th July at £340 + VAT
* Option 3 - Full conference package including accommodation at £849 + VAT (N.B. We can only support accommodation for the evening of 10th July).
This will also include Standard Class return rail fare from within the UK to Birmingham but will not include subsistence expenses. We also cannot support plane or ferry fares.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have never been to the CILIP Conference before, and who wouldn't ordinarily be able to go.

CILIP Conference is the UK's leading event for the library, information and knowledge community.
Taking place over two days in Birmingham, this year's programme will once again explore 'top of mind' issues for leaders at all levels, with a particular focus on intellectual freedom and its associated themes of freedom of expression, censorship and information rights.

Bursary Criteria:
The bursary is offered to CILIP members and who fall into at least one of the below categories:
* Students
* Those new to the profession (having joined the profession in the last 1-5 years)
* Working towards a professional registration qualification (certification, chartership or fellowship)
* Who are without the financial means to cover the ticket.
Successful bursary recipients are expected to produce a written [or video] report of their time at conference (circa 1,200 words or a ten-minute video), with permissions for ARLG to publish in print and/or online. Deadline for receipt of reports is 14 August 2024.

3. Your CILIP Membership number
4. Please state all of these that apply:
* Student
* New to the profession within the last 5 years
* Working to professional registration (please indicate which level - Certification / Chartership / Fellowship
* Without the financial means to cover the ticket.
5. A supporting statement of no more than 500 words outlining your interest in attending the CILIP Conference 2024 and how this bursary place will support your professional development.
6. Please confirm which Conference Bursary Offer you are applying for (as outlined above).
7. Application Terms
By sending an email you are confirming that you fulfil the bursary criteria of being a student/new to the profession and/or am currently without the financial means to attend CILIP Conference 2024.
Please also confirm that should your application be successful, you are happy to submit a report of your time at the conference by 14th August 2024, and give permission for this report to be published across CILIP and ARLG platforms in print and online.

Any personal information that is collected via this form is used only for the purpose of reviewing the nomination and for the ongoing administration and management of any bursaries that are awarded.
Our legal basis for processing the data described above is our legitimate interest in managing and administering the award or bursary; as well as a legitimate interest in keeping an appropriate record of any communications entered into with those recipients.
What we do with the information
Any personal information that is collected via this form will only be shared with the ARLG working group which comprises three / four members of the ARLG National committee.
We may also publish information about awards or bursaries on our own website, including the recipient of the award or bursary and the amount of bursary awarded, but only with the recipient's consent.
Any personal information that is collected via this form will not be transferred to any third countries or international organisations and will not be subject to any automated decision-making or profiling.
How we store your information
Any personal information that is collected via this form provided will be held electronically by the ARLG National Working Group for one year after the awarding of the bursary before being permanently deleted.
