Career Tales: Moving between sectors

Every library, a green library

Friday 18 October 2024, 12.30pm - 1.30pm

Delivered via Zoom

The Green Libraries Campaign is reimagining libraries not just as storehouses of knowledge, but as centres of sustainable inspiration. The session will explore, inform and reflect upon how the Green Libraries Campaign has grown from its launch in Spring 2022, with development funding from Arts Council England, into a UK-wide, cross-sector programme focused on the contribution of librarians, information and knowledge professionals to the sustainability agenda. This session will focus on two campaign initiatives, the Green Libraries Manifesto and the annual Green Libraries Week, with examples and case studies of green activities and practices to inspire delegates to take action in their own libraries.

This session will:

>> Explore the Green Libraries Campaign and how library services are getting involved
>> Consider the different Green Libraries Manifesto pledges and work being undertaken across the sector that delivers against the seven commitments
>> Empower colleagues in advocating for more ‘green practices’ and support confidence in discussing sustainability issues in relation to your libraries.
