Get to know the incredible CILIP Communities - our volunteer networks who meet regularly to programme events, trainings and conferences and publish journals, blogs and newsletters. Any CILIP member can join our community groups, attend events and/or get involved with the committee and help shape the future of their work...

The Library and Information Research Group (LIRG) promotes the value of information research and links research with practice.

The groups was formed in 1977 to draw together professionals interested in bringing library and information research into practice. We became a Special Interest Group of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, in April 2003.

LIRG aim to support and raise the profile of library and information science research and its use by CILIP LIRG members and the wider community. It will provide relevant and high quality activities and publications for practitioners and researchers which will encourage ‘research into practice’ and involve wider stakeholders.
