CILIP LIRG - Lunchtime Series

Online Interviews with Sheila Webber

Friday 1st March, 2024, 12-1pm

The Library and Information Research Group is delighted to bring you a series of CPD events during 2024, which includes a programme of online events introducing LIS practitioners to workplace research methods through our lunchtime zoom webinar series.

This event, dedicated to Online Interviews, is part of LIRG's Lunchtime Series on research methods.

Sheila will briefly identify some characteristics and guidelines that affect all research interviews, and some that apply to all online interview settings. She will then talk about the different online spaces that can be used for interviewing, and choices to do with audio, video and graphics as part of the interviewing process. Ethical aspects of online interviews will also be mentioned. There will be time for participants to share their own experience (as participants or researchers in online interviewing) and to discuss the issues raised.

Sheila Webber is a Senior Lecturer in the Information School, University of Sheffield. Her experience includes teaching research methods on the iSchool's Masters programmes and collecting research data online. She is the Head of the Libraries, Information & Society Research Group in the iSchool, and an Honorary Fellow of CILIP.
