Library Board Game Night at The Mining Institute

The North East Member Network of CILIP, the Library and Information Association, are organising a night of board games at the Mining Institute on 13th September, 6-10pm.

Board games are increasingly appearing in more bookshops, public libraries and academic libraries for their alternative learning, collaborative and social potential and because they are a lot of fun. Come along to our hands-on evening where you will have the opportunity to learn more about modern board gaming and see a range of games in action, with the option to take part or observe.

The evening will begin with a short introductory talk by staff who introduced a board games service at Newcastle City Library. There will be board games running simultaneously over the course of the evening with live demonstrations of how to play and guidance available throughout. If you work in the information or library sector the event will be the perfect opportunity to learn about introducing a board game collection to your service and the benefits it can have.

The event is open to all with games to suit all levels of experience. Entry is free and no booking is required. There will also be a bar open for refreshments.

Don't miss this one-off chance to play board games in this beautiful Victorian library!
