We are delighted that our two Conference speakers - James Nock of HEFESTIS and Anthony Sinnott of the University of York have agreed to join us in Manchester to reprise their talks and to participate in a Q&A. We are also delighted that Jenny McNally, Shared LMS Business Manager, WHELF will be joining us to share lessons learned from the roll-out of the All-Wales Library Management System and our Chair is Neil MacInnes OBE, Head of Libraries, Galleries and Culture at Manchester City Council. About our chair and speakers
 Neil MacInnes OBE Head of Libraries, Galleries and Culture Manchester City Council
| Neil has worked in the library sector for 40 years – 20 years in Glasgow and now 20 years in Manchester. As Head of Libraries, Galleries and Culture for Manchester City Council leading on a £100m transformation of the library estate over the last 15 years, including the £50m refurbishment of the iconic Manchester Central Library –the most visited public library in the whole of the UK. The Manchester Library service was also awarded the National Library of the Year Award at the 2025 British Book Awards! Neil is also involved in many local, regional, national and global sector groups having been President of Society of Chief Librarians (now Libraries Connected) and is a Trustee of Chetham's Library and a Director of EU Public Libraries 2030. |  Jenny McNally Shared LMS Business Manager, WHELF; Systems Librarian, University of Salford | Jenny McNally is the LMS Business Manager for the WHELF Consortium, which shares a Library Management System across all Welsh Higher Education libraries, NHS Wales, and the National Library of Wales. She works closely with WHELF members to help them make the most of their shared systems, leading on initiatives such as the WHELF+ inter-lending scheme. |  Anthony Sinnott, Access & Procurement Development Manager, University of York | Anthony is an experienced Acquisitions Librarian, specialising in the procurement of digital and physical resources, system implementation, and workflow development. He has expertise in E-Book licensing, copyright, and the general ongoing skullduggery within that sphere.
His professional experience includes an important role in the establishment of Explore York Libraries and Archives as a Social Enterprise. He actively participates in sector-wide initiatives, including Academic Libraries North, JISC Content Groups, and the Purchasing Framework Group. He is passionate about Library advocacy and aim to contribute to and remain informed about evolving trends in library services, particularly regarding digital resource management, E-Book accessibility, and the future of Libraries as a whole. |  James Nock Head of Data Protection and Freedom of Information Services, HEFESTIS | James is a DPO and Head of the Data Protection and Governance Shared Service at HEFESTIS. His team offer DPO and FOI shared services and consultancy in these areas. HEFESTIS is a not-for-profit company delivering data protection, governance, information security, and Servicedesk services.
James is an experienced FOI practitioner having worked as an FOI Officer for a local authority, university, and colleges. James was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Practitioner of the Year’ category of the eCase FOI Awards in March 2024 for his work starting the HEFESTIS FOI service and his consultancy work under that banner. |
About The Midland Hotel Opened by the Midland Railway in 1903, the stunning building and ballroom charmed visitors from the start. Today this Mancunian icon is a 4-star hotel and the building is Grade II listed. Its claims to fame include Charles Rolls meeting Henry Royce there, leading to the formation of Rolls-Royce in 1904.
