Join CILIP South West for a guided tour of Salisbury Cathedral and Library.
The day will include a morning tour of the Cathedral by an expert volunteer, a social lunch in the Refectory (at attendees' expense) and a tour of the Library and its collections in the afternoon.
The itinerary for the day is as follows:
11:30-12:30 General tour of Cathedral
12:30-13:50 Break for lunch/leisure/networking (spaces for 12 reserved in Cathedral Refectory)
13:50 Reconvene at the ready for tour of the Library
14:00-15:00 Library tour, including demonstration and discussion from volunteer David Ball about the cataloguing project with which he is assisting on Monday afternoons.
Cost:
Admission to the Cathedral is free, but attendees are encouraged to make a voluntary donation to support the work of the Cathedral and Library (see more information and suggested amounts at the website here).
Places are limited to a maximum of 12 and will be allocated on a first come, first-served basis.
Accessibility:
The Cathedral, Refectory, Bell Tower Café and other facilities are wheelchair-friendly, but those interested must note that there are is a 37-step spiral staircase to reach the Library and this is the sole means of access. Those with mobility issues are, of course, most welcome to attend and to participate in the Library element if they feel able to cope with the steps.
Full details (including a downloadable guide) about the Cathedral and accessibility are available online here.
Refreshments:
Details about the Refectory and Bell Tower Café are available online here. Please note we will have spaces reserved in the Refectory rather than the Bell Tower, though attendees are welcome to lunch elsewhere if they would prefer.
Travel and Parking:
For details about travelling to and parking at the Cathedral please refer to the information at the website here. Note that parking on site is limited.
