This tour offers a flavour of the range of library and information services available in Plymouth. It will also provide the opportunity to gain an insight on the jobs involved in the different sectors and a chance to build professional networks. Rail and bus links are available, although there will be some walking between venues. We will meet at Plymouth Train Station (PL4 6AB) at 10.15am

Plymouth Proprietary Library, PL1 5NN.

Starting the day with a visit to Plymouth Proprietary Library, where some of the oldest and rarest books in Devon are housed, as well as a maritime collection and classic crime corner. The PPL is one of the oldest surviving private subscription libraries in Devon and Cornwall.

Plymouth Central Library, PL1 1HZ

Our next venue is Plymouth Central Library in the heart of the city, with an opportunity to explore the library environment and available facilities. It is the largest of the 11 libraries run by Plymouth Libraries in the city.

The Charles Seale-Hayne Library, University of Plymouth, PL4 8AA

The Charles Seale-Hayne Library has four floors with learning spaces, approximately 350,000 books, 500,000 eBooks and 80,000 current journal titles. Find out how they support teaching, learning and research at the University of Plymouth.

10:15 Participants to meet Jo at the Plymouth train station and walk to the Plymouth Proprietary Library.There is some free parking close to the PPL, and one disabled space. The library will be open from 10am.
10:30 Visit to the Plymouth Proprietary Library.Refreshments on arrival.
11:30 Walk to Central Library.Some steps and a slope uphill.
12:00 Visit to Central Library. 
13:00 Lunch at The Box.Participants purchase own lunch at The Box, or elsewhere if they prefer.
 14:00 Visit to Charles Seale-Hayne, University of Plymouth Library. 
 15:30 Return to train station. End of Day
