Metadata and Discovery Group Practical Cataloguing Webinar Series

Starts: Wednesday 24th September 2025

NB. All webinars will run 1-2 pm

CILIP MDG is excited to announce a webinar series Practical Cataloguing taking place in Autumn 2025, showcasing essential metadata & cataloguing skills.

The series brings together experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts to discuss and explore topics relevant to everyday cataloguing challenges. The webinars provide a platform for developing skills, knowledge sharing and professional development. The aim is that attendees should be able to log off from the session and try something new in their work.

Objectives:

  • To provide an understanding of issues affecting everyday cataloguing.
  • To enable practitioners to learn new metadata and cataloguing skills.
  • To demonstrate useful tips and tricks.
  • To enable participants to follow along with the processes being demonstrated.

Librarians, cataloguers, metadata professionals and enthusiasts.

Introduction to MARC21 Cataloguing

Will Peaden is the Chair of the Metadata and Discovery Group. He is currently the Head of Content and Discovery at Coventry University and sits on the UK Committee on RDA and the BIC Metadata Special Interest Group.
