Practical Cataloguing Webinar 2: Library of Congress Classification

Date: Wednesday 1st October 2025, 1-2 pm

Presenter: Concetta La Spada

Come and join us for a session on the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system. We will explore its history, structure, problems and practical use through the website ClassWeb and other resources.

No previous knowledge of this classification system is necessary but knowledge of cataloguing and of the MARC21 structure is mandatory.

Concetta La Spada is Senior Metadata Librarian at Cambridge University Press & Assessment where her main job is to catalogue e-resources in the MARC21 RDA-compliant format, assign to the records classification numbers  of the LC and Decimal Dewey classification systems and Library of Congress subject headings, linked-data and accessibility data.

Free for Employer partner staff - please contact your rep or email employerpartners@cilip.org.uk for the discount code.
