Practical Cataloguing Webinar 3: Linked Data, Ontologies and Entity Reconciliation

Date: Thursday 16th October 2025, 1-2 pm

Presenter: Fran Frenzel

Linked data introduces a lot of new terms and concepts that can feel overwhelming. This webinar provides a clear, accessible introduction to the language and concepts of linked data, helping metadata professionals gain confidence in navigating this evolving landscape.

In this session you will:

  • Make sense of linked data and ontology terminology helping you to navigate for example, the RDA Toolkit.
  • Learn how you can bring URIs into your MARC data using entity reconciliation in OpenRefine and MarcEdit.

No prior experience is required.

Fran Frenzel works as Metadata Analyst in the Metadata Team at LSE Library. Fran's interests are in metadata creation, management and transformations with a specialisation in bulk operations and automated processes, as well as training and career development for metadata professionals. She is an advocate for the acknowledgement of the value and imperative of professional metadata work and high- quality metadata for content discovery and management, and open metadata.

Webinar 3 is free for CILIP members. Non-Members: £5 + VAT

Free for Employer Partner staff - contact your rep or email employerpartners@cilip.org.uk for the discount code.
