Sustainability in Czech Libraries
22nd March 2023, 17:00 to 18:00
Eliška Bartošová was introduced to environmental protection topics at the age of twelve as a member of the Children's Assembly of the Czech Republic for the Environment. During studies at the Department of Environmental Studies at Masaryk University Brno
she started working for the purpose-driven law company where she had the opportunity to participate in the development of civil society at the local level and practical environmental protection through legal instruments. She discovered the power of
libraries to contribute to environmental and social issues thanks to the project Social innovation in libraries (2017 - 2020) at Masaryk University, Department of Information and Library Studies. Since then her aim is to help libraries discover and
deepen their role in fulfilling UN Sustainable Development Goals and take action in climate protection.
Sustainability in Czech Libraries
Sustainability in Libraries started as an informal voluntary project of few people interested in environmental and social issues in collaboration with The United Nations Information Centre Prague (UNIC). During the last two years they have established SDGs in Czech
librarianship and empowered dozens of libraries to become pioneers of sustainable development topics in their communities.
