Artificial intelligence (AI): Phil Bradley's live demo of Chatbots, AI search & AI tools In this free online informal lunchtime talk organised by CILIP ILIG, Phil Bradley will give a live 45 minute demo of chatbots, AI search and AI tools, plus time for questions at the end of his session. Phil will provide an overview of AI technology as it relates to information professionals. AI is a fast-moving field in our profession and it is hard to keep up with the pace of technological change. The live demo will cover subjects such as Chatbots like ChatGPT - what they are, what they are not, how you can use them and their pros and cons. AI search is also covered, as more search engines are being created with a focus on AI-based technology to help understand the search query and to provide a single answer with no need to visit different websites. Plus a look at several tools that librarians and information professionals can use to write content, create slideshow presentations, create videos, translation tools, image creation tools, summarising tools, etc.
No prior knowledge of AI is expected, but it is hoped delegates will have a clearer idea about the importance of AI for information professionals, and pointers on which tools to explore first. Phil even used ChatGPT to write this short biography:
"Phil Bradley is a well-respected internet consultant and librarian, focused on bridging the gap between digital literacy and education through the practical use of information technology. With a background in library science, Phil has become a prominent educator in the field, particularly in clarifying the role of artificial intelligence (AI) for librarians, information professionals, and educators. His training sessions and courses are designed to provide information professionals with the necessary skills to apply AI in research, information retrieval, and knowledge management. Phil's work aims to create a learning environment that is adaptable and grounded in the current digital landscape, making him a key figure in the integration of AI within library and information services."
