The theme of the 2021 annual CILIP Library and Information History Group conference is 'Power and Resistance in Library History'.  As ever, our aim it to attract a broad spectrum of papers from across the global history of libraries. Papers from postgraduates and early career researchers are especially encouraged.

How have libraries, through the annals of history, been founded upon and impacted by hierarchies of power in national and global history?  This theme is intended to provoke sustained reflection on hegemonic structures within libraries amongst patrons, professionals, and their communities.  As well as examining the underlying restrictions imposed by power struggles, we are also interested in how historical players demonstrated agency through resistance.
