Visit to West Yorkshire Archive Service
Thursday 2nd May, 10am - 11:30am
Please join CILIP Yorkshire and Humberside for our upcoming tour of the Wakefield branch of the West Yorkshire Archive Service. The service collects and looks after the unique documentary heritage of the Yorkshire region, dating from the twelfth century to the present day – over 800 years of local history. WYAS Wakefield is the third largest local authority archive in Great Britain, comprising over 10 million documents.
The West Yorkshire History Centre is a 2 minute walk from Wakefield Kirkgate railway station, or a 20 minute walk from Wakefield Westgate railway station (there is a free city bus which travels from Westgate station and stops just outside the Centre). There is no parking at the Centre itself, but there is a pay and display car park on Brunswick Street (£2.50 for the day), or one at Kirkgate station (£2 for 2 hours).
This visit is free and open to anyone who is interested. CILIP members, please remember to sign in before you click 'book now'.
