Speaker biographies
Andrew Grave
Andrew Grave (pronouns he/him) is CILIP’s Employer Engagement Manager. In this role, Andrew works with a broad range of employers encouraging them to develop their staff through CILIP membership, training and Professional Registration.
Prior to joining CILIP in July 2019, Andrew worked in information, knowledge and research roles. These included the higher education, professional services and business support sectors. He joined CILIP as he’s a key advocate of the profession.
Outside CILIP, he enjoys walking, baking and has been known to call the odd pub quiz.
Ash Green
Ash Green (pronouns they/them) graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA(Hons) degree in Information and Library Management in 1994. After graduation they worked in higher education libraries for a short time, and then
Surrey County Council Public Library Service for 22 years, initially as a cataloguer, and more recently supporting the development of online, digital, STEM, and creative technology. They are now in a technical role within a university
library. Ash is a member of the CILIP LGBTQ+ Network Committee, and has been involved in a number of LGBTQ+ outreach projects, including the UK Web Archive LGBTQ+ Lives Online project, and collaborating on the development of an LGBTQIA
resource for library workers.
Jo Cornish
Jo Cornish (pronouns she/her) is CILIP's Chief Development Officer. In this role, Jo is responsible for CILIP’s culture, content and sector support. Jo works alongside the CEO to set up CILIP's strategic direction. A Fellow of CILIP, with
over 20 years’ experience as a practitioner, she has a recent background in standards, assessment and quality assurance. Jo specialises in building strategic partnerships and business development. She is a passionate advocate for the
importance of library, knowledge and information roles and the value they bring to society.
Simon Burton
Simon (pronouns he/him) leads on senior research & analysis engagements as well as specialist searches with information providers and industry Analyst houses. Simon also holds a number of external positions:
- Board Trustee of CILIP the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals.
- Past President (2019) of SLA Europe. His current work with SLA includes working with commercial partners within the information industry. SLA Europe is the European Chapter of SLA the global information industry association.
- Adviser to Zapnito the enterprise knowledge & expertise platform used by some of the biggest names in the publishing industry.
Mark Leigh
Mark Leigh (pronouns he/him) is the Business Development Manager for Sue Hill Recruitment and Services Ltd. In this role, Mark is responsible for delivering new business and maximising existing client relationships. He adopts a consultative
and solution-led approach, working closely with our clients to help build and grow talent in their teams. Mark has a strong recruitment background and is a natural networker who excels in competitive, changing sales environments."
