Shadowing the 2021 Carnegie Greenaway Awards
The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Shadowing Scheme is a reading for pleasure initiative that engages thousands of children and young people, introducing them to different styles of books and genres as they shadow the medal shortlists.
This webinar will be hosted by Jen Horan, 2021 Chair Elect and Chair of YLG Scotland and Ellen Krajewski, the 2021 Chair of Judges. With practical guidance on how to use the Shadowing website and resources plus a fantastic panel of Shadowing Group Leaders who will be sharing some of the creative and innovative ways they have engaged their reading groups in CKG Shadowing.
This webinar will provide valuable insights into how to get the most from Shadowing in 2021, including lessons learned from taking part in shadowing virtually in 2020. Suitable for experienced and new shadowing group leaders or anyone interested in children's reading development. The session will conclude with an opportunity for you to ask questions.

Jen Horan is the 2021 Chair Elect and a former CKG Judge in 2016/2017. She has been a school librarian for 8 years and is currently completing a research degree in Children’s Literature, exploring how school librarians can support young people’s emotional wellbeing through reading for pleasure.
Ellen Krajewski is the 2021 Chair of Judges. Before taking early retirement, Ellen worked in school and college libraries for 18 years, most recently as the Librarian at The Hemel Hempstead School in Hertfordshire. She has been actively involved in YLG and SLG for some years and served on the SLA Board from 2018 - 2020. She is currently Chair of YLG Eastern and Herts SLA. Ellen is passionate about Reading for Pleasure and takes every opportunity to promote books to young people.
