The Museum of the Home is housed in almshouses built in 1714. In 1911 the London County Council (LCC) bought the building and gardens and it opened to the public as the Geffrye Museum in 1914. It closed in 2018 for an extensive rebuilding project and reopened in 2021 as the Museum of the Home.
