PMLG Teachmeet 2018
Friday 12th October
CILIP HQ, London
Join us for our PMLG Teachmeet 2018, a day of CPD and networking opportunities for all public library staff. This year our focus is on 'Library People' and the skills, innovations and practices that put us among the top five "most trusted" professions in the UK.
We've all long understood that libraries - and public libraries in particular - aren't just about buildings or collections of books and materials; they are much more about the people who work in them. Library staff embody skills, experience and knowledge, but they also represent values and ethics, empathy and understanding, community and inclusion. And whilst we continue to campaign against cuts in professional staffing, let's not forget that for 168 years at least, UK public libraries have been supported by legions of volunteers who also share these qualities.
Teachmeet 2018 aims to explore and better understand these shared qualities of 'Library People,' so that they can be maintained and passed on to new generations.
